Private Jack Cousins

Jack Cousins was a farmer’s boy from Trowley Bottom near St Albans. He enlisted with the 7th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment in September 1914 along with 10 of his friends. He later recalled his experiences on the Somme and you can listen to his account below...

Jack Cousins was awarded the Military Medal in September 1916 and survived the war unwounded.  He made his last visit to the Somme in 1983.
