May 2016 will see the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland. Many events will be taking place to commemorate the battle and a variety of resources and material are available online to teachers.
A great place to start is the Battle of Jutland Centenary Initiative. The site includes a great deal of information, including podcasts and also some teaching resources aimed at teachers. There is also an excellent animation about the battle which gives a full account of the Battle of Jutland.
The National Museum of the Royal Navy has created a Jultand100 website. The site supports a brand new exhibition which will open in Portmsouth this month. The site includes an interactive map on which you can search stories of those involved as well as the ships which fought in the battle.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website has a very useful video introduction to the Battle of Jutland and also an in depth article about the battle.
If you are planning or organising and event to commemorate Jutland100, The Royal British Legion have an online 'toolkit' which can be downloaded. It contains a poster, inforgraphics, key facts and personal stories.
Finally, details about the national commemorative events for Jutland100 can be found here.
