Key information

All tours will be accompanied by:

  • A tour leader from UCL Institute of Education who will engage the students in a range of active learning activities to explore the literature of war, both on the battlefield and in evening seminars; they will also provide continuing professional development sessions for participating teachers
  • An experienced Guild of Battlefield Guides guidewith a WAR LITERATURE specialism, to place related poetry, novels and plays into their historical context
  • A serving soldier from the British Army to provide a view of how warfare and the public reaction to it has changed since 1914.

Who Can Attend?

Students from any year group (Year 7-13) are welcome to attend. They must be accompanied by a teacher or another member of staff at the school. Themes, texts and related activities have been carefully chosen to reflect the needs of the full age range and abilities of students eligible to participate. Comprehensive resources and an anthology will be provided.

A member of staff from the Centenary Battlefield Tours programme will contact you as soon as possible after registration in order to confirm your place

The two students can be selected from any year group (Years 7-13), but you will be able to select which member of staff and pupils will travel after you have registered in order to avoid delay.
